Navigating the Event Scheduling System in DC.USSSA : An Overview

Introduction: This USSSA University tutorial offers a high-level overview of the scheduling system within the DC.USSSA platform. This guide is designed to familiarize directors with the system's functionalities for event management and scheduling, emphasizing that for detailed training or specific queries, direct contact with support is encouraged.

Step 1: Accessing the Scheduling System

  • Log into your DC account and locate the event you wish to schedule.

  • Click on the scheduling icon (represented by brackets) next to the event name to enter the scheduling system.

Step 2: Understanding the Scheduling Interface

  • The top section displays divisions within the event, indicating the number of teams, pool games, and bracket teams.

  • The system allows for multiple iterations within each division through "flights," enabling directors to manage pool and bracket flights separately.

Step 3: Managing Pool and Bracket Flights

  • Pool Flights: A single pool flight can accommodate multiple pools. Additional pool flights are only necessary for unique scheduling scenarios.

  • Bracket Flights: Supports up to 99 flights for complex bracket setups. Teams can be moved between brackets based on game outcomes, facilitating dynamic tournament progression.

Step 4: Scheduling Games

  • Begin by managing the pool flight, seeding teams, and deciding on the layout or utilizing the "easy pool" feature for automatic setup.

  • Progress teams from pool to bracket flights, input scores, and set placings for point awards post-tournament.

  • Utilize post-tournament awards to recognize individual player achievements directly within the system.

Step 5: Utilizing Scheduling Tools

  • The system offers tools for schedule review, including a report showing game rounds and team schedules to ensure no scheduling conflicts.

  • A grid view displays scheduled games, completed games, and allows for adjustments like pitching distance changes to accommodate field requirements.

Step 6: Finalizing and Adjusting the Schedule

  • While the system assists in displaying the schedule, it lacks algorithms for automated scheduling. Directors must input their desired schedule, which the system will then display.

  • Post-schedule creation, the system offers flexibility for adjustments, ensuring directors can manage their events effectively.

Conclusion: The DC.USSSA scheduling system is a robust tool designed to assist directors in managing their events. While it provides significant flexibility and functionality for scheduling, it requires director input for the initial setup and adjustments.
