USSSA University Tutorial: Completing the Background Check for Youth Team Managers
Introduction:
Welcome to USSSA University. In this tutorial, we will guide youth team managers through the process of initiating and completing a background check, a mandatory step for managing youth teams across all sports within USSSA. This step ensures all managers meet the necessary safety standards to coach.
Step 1: Logging into Your Manager Account:
If you have not yet created a manager account, refer to the USSSA University tutorial on account creation.
For those with an account, log in using your manager ID and password to access your dashboard.
Step 2: Initiating the Background Check Process:
Navigate to the "Create a New Team" section within your dashboard.
Select the sport and registration season for your team. It is crucial to keep the appropriate season box checked to proceed correctly.
Upon selecting to create a new team, you will be directed to a page indicating the requirement to complete a background check.
Step 3: Verifying Email and Requesting Background Check Application:
Confirm your email address is correct; this is where the background check link will be sent. If the email is incorrect, you have the option to update it.
Request the background check by clicking the designated button. This sends an email to your verified address with a link to start the background check application.
Step 4: Completing the Background Check Application:
Open the email received and click on the link to start the background check process.
Follow the prompts, agreeing to disclosures and filling out necessary personal information. The process includes acknowledging the Consumer Reporting Act and providing accurate date of birth and address details.
Proceed to the payment screen to cover the background check fee of $13.50, applicable per coach per season, even if coaching multiple teams.
Important Notes:
Ensure the completion of the background check application in one sitting to avoid any interruptions in the process.
The background check must be fully completed before you can proceed to create or manage a team.
If you encounter an email address in the background check request step that is not yours, log out immediately. Each account must correspond to one individual manager.
Conclusion:
Completing your background check is a vital step in ensuring the safety and integrity of youth sports within USSSA. Once this step is finalized, you'll be eligible to proceed with team creation and registration.
